Lola Is Passive-Aggressive

Most mornings in my household go something like this:

7:00 AM:
Wake up, feed Lola, go back to bed.

7:05 AM:
Lola finishes eating, returns to bedroom, pokes me with her cold nose, wants a walk.
kate: “no. go to bed.”
lola: (huffs. does not go back to bed, but instead, goes to her toy bin and shuffles back to the bedroom.)

7:10 AM:
lola & toy: SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK
kate: (puts pillow over head)

7:15 AM:
lola & toy: SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK
kate: “lola. leave it.”
lola: (does not leave it)

7:40 AM:
lola & toy: SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK
kate: “LOLA! LEAVE IT.”
lola: (leaves it)

7:41 AM:
lola & toy: SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK
kate: “ALL RIGHT!” (throws back covers)

7:42 AM
lola: (looks up in surprise, as if to convey “oh, are you up now? i’m kind of busy with this toy at the moment. maybe i’d like a walk later.”)
kate: (narrows eyes)

7:43 AM
lola: (slowwwwwly gets to her feet, stretches leisurely, as if to convey “well, if you insist, i suppose i will go with you.”)

8:00 AM
kate & lola go on a walk.

8:40 AM
